Hudson Valley Ceremony Music performed by Andrea Shaut

About

"Where words fail, music speaks." – Hans Christian Andersen

Andrea Shaut is a prominent musician in the Hudson Valley music scene. Since graduating with a Music Performance degree from Ithaca College and moving to Kingston NY in 2004, she has established a demanding and diverse schedule of musical performances and a private teaching studio of roughly 30 students.

Andrea has been performing for wedding ceremonies since the age of 14. Although she specializes in classical music, Andrea also has a wide repertoire of popular and jazz music. She has played weddings at many venues, including the Waldorf-Astoria, Belvedere Mansion, The Garrison, Vassar College, and the Larchmont Yacht Club…to name a few! Not only can she play piano, she also plays organ and keyboard, to accommodate church weddings and outdoor weddings. Additionally, Andrea plays solo piano, or with a small group, for cocktail hours and private parties.

Andrea has been the piano accompanist for the prestigious West Point Military Academy Glee Club since 2010. With this talented choir, she has had the honor of performing at Ellis Island, Lipscomb University, George Washington University, West Point’s own Eisenhower Hall, and with Trace Adkins at The Grand Ole Opry. In 2015, Andrea traveled to Skywalker Sound to record with the Glee Club. Other accompanying highlights have been performing Carmina Burana with Ars Choralis at Opus 40, traveling abroad (Hungary, Italy, Austria) with the Hudson Valley Youth Chorale, accompanying musicians at Maverick Concerts in Woodstock, and collaborating with many professional musicians for concert recitals. Andrea also enjoys accompanying and coaching young musicians for competitions and recitals, as well as for local school choirs.

Andrea’s other current ongoing role is organist for the Fair Street Reformed Church in Kingston.  She had served as the organist and choir director for the Reformed Church of the Comforter from 2004 to 2014, and then spent a couple years subbing at different local churches in different denominations before joining the Fair St. family.

Andrea is a member of “The Dan Shaut Swing Orchestra”, which is a ten-piece swing band led by her brother, which also features her father. The band has performed at weddings and festivals throughout the Hudson Valley and Washington D.C. areas. The Shaut Family and the “family band” also hosts an annual benefit concert for the Alzheimer’s Association and has donated over $80,000 in 13 years. Another family group is The Father Daughter Duo that performs regularly around Kingston for parties, weddings, restaurants, festivals, and concert recitals. Andrea and her dad are a fun duo to listen and to watch perform together.

Andrea lives in a church with her two cats –  Amelia and Eleanor – and is the first woman ever elected to be Council President for the City of Kingston.
